Visonary Art

Visionary Art, according to Alex Gray, is art that purports to transcend the physical world and portray a wider vision of awareness including spiritual or mystical themes, or is based in such experiences.

A fascination with religious and metaphysical symbology has always been apparent in Michele’s artwork but she was slowly led into more commercially viable subject matter like sun and surf. Having run the gamut, she’s now revisiting these spiritual themes with a new awareness and skill set. Collaborating with other artists, especially Brad Rice, has evolved Purple Lotus Mosaics to produce artwork themed heavily in sacred geometry and “crop circle” designs. Each mosaic that is based on a crop circle has a link to the original image used. After reading up on some facts about this magical phenomenon, the viewer is challenged to consider deeply the implications presented. Merely gazing at these images will subconsciously speak to the viewer.

Created in Avignon, France at the studio of the beautiful Valerie Nicoladze during a fantastic workshop with Laurel True. This vision came to me while I was there, a presence urging me forward, like an inner knowing. It was this same presence that brought me to France in the first place like something I always
wanted to do and I didn’t know why. It was like a circle needed to be completed, maybe from another
lifetime or dimension. I’ve included two different photos of the same piece of art to show how it
changes in the light.

The visible light spectrum revealing what is seen, merging into a blank field with sparks of light, a field of
unseen infinite possibilities, a field where our physical DNA can be altered.

Based on a crop circle from 1997, this triangle fascinated me with its interlocking circles. When focused
upon, it starts to turn and move like a gear.

The inspiration for this mosaic came from a crop circle image from 2001. I loved the pyramid and the
emanating rays. When I started to translate it into mosaic it became a rainbow.

hidden message was waiting to be uncovered or another dimension
